My entry for the OC contest at 
. At first I had planned to submit a plain portrait of a different character, but I love Marilyn so much that when I thought about the trouble of giving her a background which made her belonging to the world of Thedas more noticeable, the idea of making a strip about her stroke me and I just had to do it.
So. Stop babbling.
This is my OC Marilyn of Denerim, future Marilyn Mallory, city elf rogue from Denerim. I created her for The Merry Mabari RPG group and she has lived many adventures, but I will try to make a short summary here.
She was born on 9:05 (that is, 25 years before the Blight) and raised, along with her twin sister Evelyn, at the Denerim Alienage. Orphaned at the age of 5, both twins were brought to the Alienage Orphanage (yeah, that creepy place which was haunted during DA: O , actually both twins liked to sing the "Ser Wilhem" nursery rhyme to creep people out ), and they soon became thieves to survive since the supplies the Orphanage gave were not enough, specially when they grew up into hungry teenagers. They took advantage of their likeness and they were known as the "Lyn twins", adressing each other by the name "Lyn" just to make more confussing to know who was who. Marilyn usually was the ruthless one and she often ended running in the streets of Denerim in front of the guards, Aladdin style. One of her favourite places to hide was "the Pearl", where she used to jump through a window and hide in whatever room she fell into until danger was over. Sanga allowed her to hide there in the hope sooner or later she and her sister would join her brothel, since a couple of redhaired elven twins would definitely attract more customers. Mari never fully accepted the offer, mainly because of her sister, whom she wanted to protect, but didn't say "no" either, using the advantage of the Pearl as a hideout. Of course, that meant she learnt a lot... more than she intended. That's the scene I chose for the comic.
Later the twins would leave the Alienage, due to some dramatic events which included their own kind selling Marilyn to the guards, and they ended in a curious tavern where the twins parted different ways. Having been betrayed by the Alienage elves, while shems like Sanga, Sargeant Kylon or the templar who took care of the twins had been nice with them, Mari had a soft spot for shems, so she fell in love without almost noticing with the human warrior Kyle Mallory, who later became her husband. After many adventures in which Marilyn learnt how their mother died and who was their real father, they settled down in Highever, where she got pregnant of a baby who was born during the terrible night in which the castle was taken by the Arl Howe and his men. Only the friendship of Kyle with the Couslands helped the young couple save their lives, using the same passage Duncan used to save the Cousland's youngest minutes before. Their first born, Shane, came to the world in that dark passage.
There are of course many adventures they've lived and many others they will still live, but I think it is enough for an introduction
